About "Ted Mikulski is a professional artist with a studio based in Connecticut. Ted studied architecture and applies his knowledge of space and form to his art. He likes large surfaces, which allow him to be freer with paint and material to express an overall concept. He combines media to develop figurative and non-figurative elements to work in the cohesion of an exhibition or presentation space. Originally known for his abstract expressionism, he has branched out into installation work and pop-art hybrids. As an accomplished author and adjunct professor, he is an emerging figure making his mark on the New England art scene. With innovative and bold art that consistently draws in its viewers, he is an artist to watch in the coming years." -Steve Stone Artist Statement I received my masters in architecture from Norwich University and there learned how to balance and create space. I have always been an admirer of abstraction and began to paint sporadically in school. As time went on I knew that art was the only form of design I wanted to pursue. I began teaching art and really diving into the art world to find my personal creative niche. There I found the major players in the abstract expressionism world and was hooked by its raw beauty and creativity. I like large surfaces, which allow me to be freer with the medium and express an overall concept. I use a combination of media to develop figurative and non-figurative elements. I often work to create a big expansive gestures using the entire surface that I develop. My art is meaningful, something that the viewer can be a part of. It should speak to you in a way that is more than one sided. The work allows itself to be open to conceptual interpretation and thus transcend dimensionality. It’s meaning evolves and changes over time until it becomes something intimate. YouTube |
